City Craft Mela & Folk Dance Festival |

It
is a festival of handicraft and colourful folk
dances of India.
The main objective of organising this
festival is to provide opportunities by which
people from different parts of India get to know
more about each other’s tradition and cultural
heritage and thereby help in promoting mutual
understanding and cultural exchange.
In addition to this people of one region
get a chance to witness the cultural variety of
another region.
Around
300 folk dancers and 100 craftsmen are drawn
from the different parts of the country to
national level to participate in the said event.
It is
held every year in the cool month of December in
the beautiful premises of the Centre at Nagpur. |

This is an ongoing
scheme of the Centre. The Centre organises this
festival to pay tributes to the distinguished
musician late Dr.Vasantrao Deshpande.He was a
born vocalist, actor and an exponent of Kirana
Gharana. He
left an indelible mark on the minds of music
lovers. Renowned
as well as promising young and talented artists
in the field of classical music & dance
participate in this three days festival which is
held every year from 30th July to 1st
August at Nagpur.

Art Contest & Exhibition |

The Centre has been
working for the promotion of visual art by organizing all India level art contest and then exhibition.
The main objective behind it is to encourage to
the youth and professional artists in the disciplines of
painting, drawing, graphics and sculpture.
It is generally organized in the month of
September every year.

Workshop |

There are some programs to entertain and enlighten the children of Nagpur and of other areas. This Centre is trying to
tap the hidden talents within the children. This centre intends to explore the talents by conducting various workshop during the summer in the field of
Rangoli, folk dances, paintings, origami, book binding, terracotta – ceramic pot making, thermacol art, handwriting, candle making etc.The training is imparted for 10 days under the expert guidance of the course Directors. The vacations are the time when children make the Centre their
haven.

|

It is a festival of music & dance.
In Hindustani Music Parampara plays a very
important role. Parampara
means tradition of Sampraday, school or gharana.
It has been envisaged that merging of the guru
and the shishya together into the common effective and
creative relationship with each other as an ideal in the
process of learning.
It is necessity of the time to preserve our
traditional music and to promote guru shishya parampara.

| All India Theatre Festival |
|
|
In order to give an opportunity to theatre
artists/lovers, Centre organises the festival at 2
different places in its participating States.
The objective is to revive the art form.
It is the festival of 4 days. Eminent theatre
groups as well as amateur theatre groups participate in
this festival.

order to explore the possibilities of
identifying young and vibrant talent in
the field of classical music, &
dance and encourage,
promote and to provide proper
platform to young upcoming artists the
Centre organises Yuva Sangeet Nritya
Mahotsava at two places in its
participating states.

It is a festival of devotional music.
The spiritual heritage of the country
kept alive by religions movement, though
remains in background, yet has a potent and
permanent effect on the prevailing cultures of the
society. The
Centre organises “
Mangala Charan” programme based on Bhakti cults in the
participating States at 2 places to promote spiritual
heritage of the country.

This
is a festival specially drawn for the scholarship holder
of Department of Culture, Government of India in the
field of music & dance.
The young and budding artists can participate
under this scheme.
The objective of organizing this festival is to
judge their progress in their respective fields &
provide platform.

At tourist place
Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, the Centre
organises a 3 day festival of folk dances/folk
oral tradition around Shivratri
Festival (Month of February or March). |

| Guru Shishya Parampara Scheme
|
|
|
This
Centre has also been implementing Guru Shishya Parampara
scheme in 16 art forms from the participating States of
the Centre i.e. Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh,
Karnataka and Maharashtra.
There will be 4 pupils in each scheme and the
training will be imparted to these pupils under the
guidance of Guru in each scheme.
